Economic &
Management Consulting (E&MC) Group
EnergyPath Corporation
has close ties with the E&MC Group (www.emc-group.com)
in Stony Brook, New York. E&MC Group is the
source of EnergyPath’s capability to undertake
economic modeling of energy markets. Dr. John
Wile is one of the most respected energy
economists in the U.S. and has spent over
twenty years developing, improving, expanding
and applying its Electric Power Market Model (EPMM).
Developed initially for the purpose of
assessing economic, energy and environmental
implications of the 1977 Amendments to the
Clean Air Act, EPMM has been extensively
modified and enhanced to reflect the ongoing
changes in the legal, institutional and
economic environment facing the electric
industry. EPMM has seen extensive use by major
electric utilities in the U.S. and Europe,
non-utility generators, investment bankers and
power marketers. Moreover, EPMM has formed
the basis of testimony on a wide range of
subjects before a number of state regulatory
and federal regulatory agencies. As part of
its efforts to maintain and enhance EPMM, E&MC
Group maintains an extensive economic,
financial, technical and operational database
of U.S. and Canadian power plants as well as
extensive data on transfer capabilities among
electric regions in the U.S. and Canada.
Also, EPMM has been used to evaluate a wide
range of issues in Mexico, South America and
Europe.
When EnergyPath
Corporation utilizes the Risktoolz R2
value-based financial and accounting software
to analyze strategies and assess
energy-related investments, it first models
energy markets using EPMM to develop forward
price curves along with dispatch and
operational data for generating facilities.
EnergyPath then incorporates this information
into Risktoolz R2 to perform energy strategy
and investment assessments, to determine whether
value is being created and to recommend
alternate courses of action to insure a
successful outcome.
The combination of
(1) EnergyPath’s strategic decision support
capabilities focusing on value creation,
(2) Risktoolz’ R2 financial and valuation software
and (3) E&MC Group’s Electric Power Market Model
is unique in the U.S. energy consulting
industry.
